Restylane Skin Booster – properties, benefits, side effects and contraindications

How Restylane Skin Booster works

Restylane Skin Booster is an alternative skin care method specially designed to provide deep hydration.

The treatment involves hydrating microinjections of a soft, gel-like substance called hyaluronic acid (HA), which improves skin’s firmness, elasticity and radiance. This hydrophilic substance (HA) is found naturally in the body, where it keeps the skin hydrated.

As we age, the quality of HA diminishes over time. Restylane Skin Booster is the solution to this problem, as it offers the possibility to restore and maintain natural hydration levels from the inside out, regardless of the patient’s age.

Restylane Skin Booster benefits, conditions and side effects

The benefits of Restylane Skin Booster

Restylane Skin Booster improves skin firmness, elasticity and radiance in a subtle, gradual and natural yet visibly refreshing way. Microinjections stimulate fibroblasts to produce more Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen and Elastin, meaning the treatment has ongoing benefits beyond the actual duration of treatment.

Conditions where Restylane Skin Booster is recommended

Restylane Skin Booster can be used to treat a multitude of areas including the face, neck, décolletage and hands. It is most commonly used for the lower face as well as smoker lines. Restylane Skin Booster works to improve the texture and hydration of the skin around the mouth, chin and lower cheeks.

Restylane Skin Booster side effects

Restylane products have proven a complete safety record since their launch in 1996. Adverse reactions observed as a result of Restylane Skin Booster treatments are rare.

The most common side effects are related to the procedure itself – the injections can have a short-term impact on patients with very sensitive skin. Within a maximum of a week, however, the skin heals and patients can enjoy the visible positive effects of the treatment.

Temporary side effects may include: redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site.

How Restylane Skin Booster works

Before treatment

During your initial consultation, you will talk to your doctor about your expectations for this treatment. It is possible, depending on the case, to opt for a combination of Restylane injections with other related interventions. After establishing a mutually agreed treatment, taking into account your wishes and possibilities, you will receive a consent form that must be read carefully and signed.

During treatment

Restylane Skin Booster is injected into the skin in small amounts using a very fine needle. The treatment improves the natural level of hydration and increases the production of collagen and elastin in the deeper layers of the skin. These, in turn, improve the texture and appearance of the skin. Numbing cream may be used to make the procedure more comfortable.

The treatment is quick, usually taking about 30 minutes. It does not affect facial expression and the benefits can normally be seen in the following days.

After treatment

Restylane Skin Booster products are biodegradable, meaning they will be broken down naturally by the body. To ensure an optimal and long-lasting result, three treatments 4-6 weeks apart are recommended, followed by a maintenance treatment once every 6 months.
