Laser hair removal – the new permanent hair removal technique

Laser hair removal is considered the latest technology in the field of permanent hair removal. Thanks to the light with a wavelength of 755 mm, which is absorbed by the melanin in the root of the hair, it has the ability to deliver the optimal level of energy to very precisely destroy the target tissue without affecting the surrounding tissues.

Among the methods available today, laser hair removal laser-based devices have proven to be the most reliable, safe and fast methods of unwanted hair removal. They are used for aesthetic purposes, to remove excessive hair. Moreover, they are also used for medical purposes, in the treatment of folliculitis or pseudofolliculitis, which is due to the growth of hair under the skin and which can cause inflammation at the root of the hair.

Laser hair removal treatment can help with:

  • permanent hair removal;
  • Pigmentation removal;
  • elimination of vascular lesions and freckles.

Benefits:

  • very good target tissue penetration rate;
  • clearly superior effectiveness on fine, thin hairs – even on facial hair – being used for all types of hair, from all areas of the body;
  • less pain and discomfort compared to other hair removal methods, thanks to the CRYSTAL FREEZE cooling function;
  • ideal hair removal method for people with skin phototype I and II (people with fair skin);
  • Hair removal can also be performed on tanned skin (interrupt exposure to the sun 3 weeks before and after the laser treatment).

How many sessions are needed?

Each session produces the destruction of the hairs that are in the active (growth) phase, which are pigmented along their entire length. Therefore, several sessions are needed to destroy the hairs in the other stages of growth at the time of treatment.

In addition, the number of sessions also depends on various individual parameters, such as age, sex, hormonal levels, treated area, skin colour, hair thickness and colour.

Usually between 6 and 10 sessions are required. After the first session, a thinning of the hairs in the treated area of about 30% is obtained, visible 2 weeks after the treatment. Since there is no permanent hair removal, but a permanent reduction of unwanted hair, maintenance treatments are required at longer intervals.

What is the optimal interval between laser hair removal sessions?

The interval is determined according to the treated area and the duration of the hair cycle in that area. Hair grows at a rate of 6 weeks (especially in the face area), and up to 6 months (on the body). So, the optimal interval for epilation will be 6 weeks.

Indications before the procedure:

  • Hair removal by pulling is interrupted 4 weeks before the first treatment session, in order to allow the treatment of as large a batch of hairs as possible, in the growth phase;
  • exposure to the sun or solarium must be stopped 3 weeks before and after the sessions;
  • discontinuing photosensitizing drugs (which increase the risk of burning);
  • performing a medical consultation to rule out an endocrine cause of unwanted hair.
